Typically, these State files run anywhere from 20KB to 1.2 MB in size. The entire National Inventory is available in three separate downloadble files. There is a file of all current Public-at-Grade crossings (~10 MB .EXE file expands to about 118 MB). There is a file of all current Private and grade-separated crossings (~5 MB .EXE file expands to about 105 MB). There is also a file which contains about 10 years of archival records for all types of crossings (~20 MB .EXE file expands to about 375 MB). Please take these file sizes into consideration before attempting to download them!
